Rachael Kenny:
Take control of your own career early

Rachael Kenny - Event Specialist at GLG
Some of the most important advice I have been given during my career so far has been to say yes to opportunities even when you don’t feel ready.
The growth that comes from doing this has helped me progress quickly and expanded my network to include top-level event professionals I am able to turn to for advice and support.
"Failure is the most important learning experience"
Another is to take control of your own career early on by asking for what you want, whether it’s more responsibility, a promotion or exposure to different projects. By taking control and voicing your desires you can start to shape the role you want within your company that will best benefit them and you. Finally, failure is the most important learning experience.
It is scary, but you become more resilient when something goes wrong and you figure out how to overcome it. You know then the next time you face a difficult situation, you have the ability to overcome it and level up your skill set.
