Studio Stories: the M&IT Ideas Factory

A new M&IT series unlocking creative thinking for modern events - smart, human-centred ideas that break convention without breaking the bank.

Studio Stories is a new M&IT series designed to spark imagination - and share practical, ready-to-adapt ideas for event planners hungry for creative alternatives.

Think of it as a conversation starter. A curated stream of activations, design concepts, and sensory experiences, all engineered to add value, energy and emotion to exhibitions, conferences, and brand events.

It’s inspiration with its sleeves rolled up; ideas you can actually use.

Let It All Out: The Fess-Hole

The event world’s secret confessional corner

We all have stories - the forgotten name badge, the speaker who missed their cue, the pitch that didn’t quite land. The Fess-Hole gives delegates permission to let it all out.

Hidden behind a curtain or nestled in a quiet corner, the setup is simple: a seat, a voice-modified phone line, and an invitation to anonymously share professional mishaps, “oops” moments, and behind-the-scenes tales.

The audio confessions are later edited and shared (with consent) as part of a light-hearted “community blooper reel” - a reminder that even the best make mistakes.

Why it works:

  • Cathartic, relatable and human - laughter is the ultimate connector
  • Easy to brand and repurpose for content
  • Generates buzz and word-of-mouth that spreads long after the event

Glam-Bots Welcome

A signature arrival experience that turns heads - and cameras

Imagine your delegates stepping into a high-energy, halo-lit entrance where they can film their own red-carpet moment. The Glam-Bot Welcome transforms exhibition and conference lobbies into interactive “arrival zones” - a fashion-culture collaboration that’s part installation, part social activation.

Guests pick their track, props, and filters before recording their slow-motion cinematic entrance moment. The result? Instant shareable FOMO - and a fresh sense of excitement before the event has even begun.

Why it works:

  • Instant energy and inclusivity - every delegate feels like a VIP
  • Brandable and customisable for any theme or community
  • Built for social sharing - a magnet for digital engagement

The Silent Garden

A soundscape sanctuary for reflection, storytelling, and soul.

Step into a hanging forest of headphones suspended in shafts of soft, coloured light. Each pair plays a two-minute audio story: brand moments, campaign lessons, community voices. The Silent Garden is a sensory experience for delegates to pause, listen, and reconnect with purpose.

It’s content without screens - a moment of calm amid the event chaos. Whether it’s success stories from exhibitors, customer journeys, or sponsor spotlights, this experience reframes storytelling in an entirely new way.

Why it works:

  • Offers sensory contrast to high-energy show floors
  • Delivers bite-sized, emotional brand storytelling
  • Creates an immersive, photogenic experience that people remember

Institute of Coffee

The subculture café where conversations (and ideas) brew

Forget generic coffee stands - welcome to the Institute of Coffee, a pop-up basement café designed as the beating heart of off-site networking.

Run by a partner-proprietor with personality, it’s a space that flips between daytime debate and evening vibe. Morning “open mic” sessions invite guest speakers or delegates to share ideas over espresso; evenings turn into relaxed mocktail hours with DJ beats and community talkback.

Each day concludes with a “Sucks or Rocks” session - a quick-fire roundup of what the crowd loved or loathed about the event, with the host capturing those insights as data for organisers.

Why it works:

  • Creates authentic community conversation
  • Generates real-time insights for organisers
  • Attracts next-gen event professionals with fresh, participatory energy

Why Studio Stories?

Studio Stories exists to give event professionals a creative nudge - a way to reimagine the experiences we design for our audiences. Every vignette explores the themes that matter most to today’s planners: technology, travel, talent, and transformation; all filtered through a human lens.

It’s about making innovation meaningful. About connection, not gimmicks. About keeping creativity accessible, purposeful, and ready to activate.

Each story is just one spark in a much larger collection - a library of adaptable, affordable, and engaging experiences that M&IT will continue to explore through the Studio Stories series.

Because in a world where audiences crave authenticity, the best ideas don’t always cost the most - they just connect the deepest.
