One Hundred Shoreditch offers planners quirky meeting spaces
One Hundred Shoreditch has opened its doors. Located on Shoreditch High Street, the design-led, independent hotel offers a vibrant and social programme of events encompassing music, art, fashion, design and wellbeing, which will run throughout the year.
The restaurants and bars include Goddard and Gibbs, an all-occasion restaurant, wine bar and take-out hatch specialising in British seafood; Seed Library, a cocktail bar by bartender Mr Lyan and a rooftop bar and terrace with views across East London.
The bedrooms and suites at the hotel are designed to be a retreat from the energy of the area, providing headspace and calm in the heart of Shoreditch allowing for guests to disconnect from the outside world.
The hotel’s five meeting and event rooms are suitable for everything from private dinners and receptions to meetings and weddings. The One Hundred Room, with its floor to ceiling glass, offers views of the city skyline.

Sitting on a private island on the River Thames, 40 minutes from central London, Monkey Island Estate provides a setting for exclusive meetings and events, canape and cocktail receptions, gourmet dinners and team activities including axe throwing, falconry and survival escape simulations.
The 24-hour delegate package includes a three-course evening meal in the Monkey Brasserie, accommodation and a la carte breakfast. For a shorter team experience, the day delegate package provides exclusive room hire, a working lunch menu, or option to take a break in proceedings for a meal in the Brasserie, along with a dedicated event manager.
Team events on offer include ‘Escape from The Island’ where delegates will learn to survive whilst plotting their escape. The most popular offerings are falconry, axe throwing and laser clay pigeon shooting.
For smaller gatherings, the Spencer Suite can hold up to 25 in a theatre style, or 12 for a more intimate banquet setting. For larger groups the flexible River Room is ideal for both meetings and catering, taking up to 100 at a time in a contemporary style.
Hotel AMANO Covent Garden
The 141-room property from Berlin-based hotelier The AMANO Group is set to combine the vibrancy of Berlin with the history and metropolitan buzz of London.
Located on Drury Lane, Hotel AMANO Covent Garden has been transformed from a 1980s office building known as Drury House. The property has a restaurant and two bars as well as a rooftop terrace. The heart of the hotel can be found in the basement bar where sophisticated cocktail creations are served.
A special highlight is the Skybar with an adjoining roof terrace on the 7th floor. On the culinary front, Israeli chef Ronen Dovrat Bloch will deliver an exciting restaurant concept when the hotel’s signature restaurant opens this coming autumn.
Royal Lancaster London
introduces Studio 19
Located on the 19th floor of the Royal Lancaster London, opposite Hyde Park, the new purpose-built Studio 19 offers an opportunity to host hybrid and virtual events.
Featuring the latest in extended reality technology, green screen sets, virtual production and more, the Studio’s production set allows content to be pre-recorded and/or streamed live via Zoom or a virtual event platform, as well as hosting hybrid events.
Studio 19, in partnership with 4Wall, features a 20sqm Extended Reality stage with LED backdrop and floor, audio, broadcast cameras and TV-ready lighting allowing clients to have both a live audience and virtual attendees.
For those looking for a more traditional event experience, the five-star Royal Lancaster London also offers the option to add meeting rooms, catering and accommodation to an event.
The Venues Collection launch Meetings for Change packages
The Venues Collection has launched its ‘Meetings for Change’ day delegate rate (DDR) and a 24-hour delegate rate package to make it easy for event organisers to choose sustainable options for their meetings, training sessions and events.
The packages focus on the recently launched Meetings for Change initiative, which is a five-point charter focussing on sustainable food options. They include ethically sourced tea and coffee served with Red Tractor Assured milk; buffet lunch, dinner and breakfast options that prioritise British seasonal ingredients, minimal food waste and plant-forward options; hydration stations that use fruit and vegetable peelings to flavour the water to remove single-use plastics and reduce food waste. They also have a sustainable approach to the use of stationary, ‘take what you like, but only take what you need’
Plans for new Becketwell Performance Venue gain traction
Plans are moving forward for the new 3,500 capacity entertainment and events venue, part of the £200m Becketwell regeneration scheme, which is the most significant urban regeneration scheme in the city of Derby for more than 30 years.
The venue is a key component of Derby's recovery plan which is putting culture at the heart of the city centre and is playing a major role in Derby’s bid for City of Culture 2025.
It will be a scalable space capable of staging a range of concerts, stand-up comedy, family shows, musical theatre, exhibitions, and business events.
The venue is set to host more than 200 cultural and commercial events each year and attract an additional 250,000 visitors to Derby.
Hotel Brooklyn, Leicester set to open
in June 2022
Adjacent to Welford Road Stadium, home of Leicester Tigers, the 191-room hotel is inspired by the New York borough of Brooklyn, with an industrial aesthetic, atrium and exposed brickwork.
Public spaces - including a working space, a Grandstand for watching films or live sports, a restaurant and a bar - will all be significantly more expansive than its sister hotel in Manchester. There will be several skyline suites, rooms with hot-tub terraces and executive suites with free-standing baths, dog-friendly rooms and quirky, modern lead-in rooms as well as spaces for sophisticated and fun corporate hospitality.
