The Mermaid London achieves AIM Secure accreditation

Leading conference and events venue, The Mermaid London, has achieved prestigious AIM Secure status from the Meetings Industry Association (mia), the only quality standard accreditation recognised by the UK events industry.

Jackie Harding, commercial director at The Mermaid London, said: “It is a true honour to be recognised by such a distinguished and authoritative institution as the Meetings Industry Association.

The Mermaid London is a leading conference and events venue in the capital, with an exclusive use capacity of 1,900 and nine versatile and flexible event spaces, including the City of London’s only 600-seated auditorium. As part of its comprehensive corporate social responsibility strategy, it has pledged to donate £1 from every day-delegate-rate booking and £5 for festive bookings throughout 2023 to Streets of London, a charity providing specialist support to homeless people in the capital.

Leeds welcome TESTBED venue

TESTBED is a newly renovated event venue in Leeds that offers a blank canvas space.

‘The Wunderkind Group’, an independent family business that also includes Sheaf St, Duke Studios, Duke Makes, and In Good Company, is the creative team behind the TESTBED venue.

Revamped RIBA Cafe at 66 Portland Place available for event hire 

RIBA at 66 Portland Place has added another new event space to its inventory following the revamp of its onsite café. The RIBA Cafe has undergone a makeover and the new tranquil space is now available to hire outside of normal opening hours for relaxed evening receptions and as a VIP area for larger events.

Christ Church Spitalfields appoints new caterer

Award-winning event caterer, Jimmy Garcia has won the position of exclusive caterer at the recently restored historic venue Christ Church Spitalfields.

Garcia said: "This is a massive moment for my business and a proud one for me personally. I'm incredibly excited that Christ Church Spitalfields is our very first venue as the exclusive caterer. Not only is this a stunning landmark venue and one that is equipped to deliver the very best events, but it also stands proud at the heart of the east end and has been welcoming people through its doors for nearly 300 years. We can't wait to start welcoming our clients and their guests".

Savoy Palace Madeira ramps up its MICE game

Located in the centre of Funchal, Madeira, the Savoy Palace is within walking distance of many vibrant local attractions and 20 minutes from Madeira’s international airport.

Opened in 2019, the hotel has 309 rooms including the two presidential suites, 14 with plunge pools, 246 ocean, superior and concept rooms, and 56 avenue and garden rooms.

Savoy Palace's Business Centre contains 928 sqm of event place including a multifunctional Ballroom with a capacity of up to 1,400 people. The room has direct access to the poolside exterior and a dedicated conference reception with bar and refreshment facilities.

The hotel has eight meeting rooms from 42 to 134 sqm and an additional boardroom overlooking the ocean.

The Set Collection expands its Europe and Middle East portfolio

The Set Collection is adding eight new properties to its Europe and the Middle East portfolio.

New members include the Ultima Collection properties – Ultima Gstaad, Ultima Grand Geneva, Ultima Crans-Montana, Ultima Megève, Ultima Courchevel Belvédère, and Ultima Corfu – a series of establishments and destinations located in Switzerland, France, and Greece.

Another addition to The Set Collection will be Le Grand Jardin, located in the South of France. Beyond Europe, The Set Collection will also add another property in Jerusalem, The David Citadel.

Pullman opens a property in Cape Town, South Africa

Pullman Cape Town City Centre, the first property under the Pullman Hotels & Resorts brand in South Africa, has found residence in the Triangle House – an architecturally acclaimed skyscraper standing tall at 104 metres, a vantage point from which guests are treated to awe-inspiring vistas of Table Mountain, the Atlantic Ocean, and of Cape Town’s majestic cityscape.
