Join Ofelia de Souza, a 72-year-old experienced event planner and epicurean from the city of Lamego as she shares her tips and secrets for making the most of Porto and the North of Portugal for events. And at the same time, she explains how not to “die of boredom” and avoid “back pain”.
Along with her personal assistants Ofelier and Ofeliette, she invites event organisers to learn how to make the most of one of the best business tourism destinations in the world.
Launched by Visit Porto and North of Portugal - Convention & Visitors Bureau, ‘Why choose Porto & North of Portugal for your event? - The Majestic Adventures of Ofelia de Souza’, explains why the region is such an ideal destination for the meetings industry.
The cities of Porto, Matosinhos, Vila Nova de Gaia, Braga and the beautiful landscapes of the Douro Valley are just some of the places that feature. All of the character's costumes and interactions represent the region's design, culture, industry, fashion and gastronomy.
Designed to show the region’s capacity for hosting large or exclusive events, this entertaining and amusing film was made by the Portuguese KOBU Agency.

Investing in the meetings industry is key to the region, says president of Visit Porto and North of Portugal - Convention & Visitors Bureau, Luís Pedro Martins. Explaining the film, he says: “The dynamism of the destination, the diversity and quality of the offer, and the attention to detail, in a charismatic and less conventional approach, allows for a journey through iconic landscapes and experiences.”
