Meet in the heart of Barcelona
The Catalunya Congress & Convention Centre has reopened under the management of Meliá Hotels International, ensuring the highest standards of quality, innovation and sustainability in a garden setting in the Catalan capital
Located on Barcelona’s prestigious Avenida Diagonal, the Catalunya Congress & Convention Centre offers a unique setting for major events, conferences and conventions blending architecture, nature and technology. Situated on the city’s main financial and commercial axis, the Catalunya Congress & Convention Centre is surrounded by one of the most beautiful and extensive gardens in the Catalan capital. Composed of several interconnected buildings, it features a modular and functional design that is easily adaptable to the needs of each event.
Natural light floods every corner of the venue, enhancing its architectural elegance and simplicity. Offering 39 meeting rooms of various sizes and a main auditorium seating more than 1,900 guests, it is one of Spain’s most versatile congress centres.
A new opportunity for events in Barcelona
The Catalunya Congress & Convention Centre forms part of a unique complex in Europe, sitting alongside the five-star Torre Melina Gran Meliá hotel and 25,000 sqms of private gardens. It offers organisers and delegates a comprehensive, world-class experience, combining flexible spaces, luxury accommodation and a natural environment unlike any other in the city centre.
Following a highly anticipated reopening that marked a milestone in the city’s event calendar, the Catalunya Congress & Convention Centre is now under the management of Meliá Hotels International.
“Barcelona needed to recover this strategic asset, and doing so under Meliá’s management allows us to position the venue among leading international venues”
Versatile spaces and cutting-edge technology
With a main auditorium, 37 multifunctional meeting rooms and an 1,800 sqm exhibition hall with seven metre-high ceilings and abundant natural light, the Catalunya Congress & Convention Centre can host everything from large international congresses to more intimate corporate gatherings. Each space is equipped with advanced audio visual technology, robust connectivity and digital tools that support both in-person and hybrid event formats.
A unique garden setting
The Catalunya Congress & Convention Centre’s extensive private gardens are one of its most distinctive features. This lush green environment provides an exceptional backdrop for exhibitions, cocktail receptions, product launches and networking activities, offering a serene and attractive space rarely found in the centre of a major European city.
Growth, sustainability and international outlook
In 2025, the complex — including the hotel and convention centre — will have hosted more than 300 events and generated around €50 million in revenue, reaffirming its contribution to Barcelona’s economic and business development.
Sustainability is a core pillar of the Catalunya Congress & Convention Centre’s identity. The venue holds the Biosphere Sustainable Lifestyle certification, an international recognition of its commitment to environmental, social and economic responsibility, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Looking ahead, the Catalunya Congress & Convention Centre remains firmly committed to innovation, operational excellence and public-private collaboration, reinforcing its leadership role in the global MICE industry.
