Palma, the newest events destination in the Mediterranean

Majorca’s stunning capital is home to a sustainable and stylish Convention Centre, offering events the opportunity to meet in this beautiful city while enjoying state-of-the-art facilities

Palma Congress Centre is one of the most modern and innovative convention centres on the Mediterranean. Located within a 15-20 minute walk of the city’s fabulous historic centre, it is just eight kms from the international airport with direct flights from all major cities in Europe.

Managed by Meliá Hotels International, the Centre opened in April 2017. Thanks to its efficient, sustainable and clever design, it won the highest architecture award in Spain in its opening year.

The Convention Centre offers two magnificent auditoria with excellent acoustics and capacity for 1,966 and 471 people respectively. It is fully equipped with the latest technology and boasts a large exhibition hall of 2,340 sqm. There are many flexible meeting rooms of different sizes while a stunning terrace on the third floor offers glorious views across the Bay of Palma.

MELIÁ PALMA BAY

Linked to the Congress Centre is the Meliá Palma Bay, a contemporary style hotel offering 268 bright and spacious rooms with Scandinavian-style decor.

Meliá Hotels International offers almost 1,000 rooms in the city in several hotels and offers one point of contact to help manage the accommodation and meeting requirements of event planners.

SERIOUS ABOUT SUSTAINABILITY

Meliá Hotels International has created Eco-Meet as part of its commitment to combat climate change. This responsible management programme for major meetings and events combines maximum professionalism and minimal environmental impact, as well as paying attention to details including local and healthy dining options.

Participating in a circular economy project run by Tirme, the company responsible for waste management in Majorca, organic waste is collected from the Meliá Palma Bay hotel and converted into ecological compost for use by local farmers. The hotel and convention centre then purchase the sustainable produce grown. Win win!

The Palma Convention Centre was designed and built using the latest technology to optimise energy, waste and water efficiency.

THE ISLAND LIFE

Majorca is a beautiful island with a wonderful climate that attracts visitors all year round. Its stunning geography incorporates the majestic Sierra de Tramuntana mountains, which have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, together with five spectacular caves open to visitors. Palma, dominated by the glorious Santa Maria Cathedral, known as La Seu, boasts the largest gothic city centre in Europe and is a picturesque city of narrow streets offering bars, restaurants and excellent shopping. Surrounded by wine, almond and olive oil producers, local fincas offer fabulous gastronomy and tours in beautiful settings close by.
