The ACC
Liverpool Group has unveiled its latest social value plan, emphasising its
dedication to generating positive, lasting impact in the Liverpool City region
and beyond.
Since the
introduction of its initial Social Value Plan in 2022, the group—managing
Liverpool's waterfront events campus, which includes ACC Liverpool, Exhibition
Centre Liverpool, and the M&S Bank Arena—has prioritised social value,
maximizing its positive influence on the local community.
The
latest report highlights the group's achievements over the past year,
demonstrating their commitment to sustainability, community engagement, and
workforce well-being.
Throughout
the past year, ACC Liverpool Group has integrated social value into its
operations, transforming new initiatives into standard policies and practices.
This has resulted in a £1.1 million increase in social value. Utilising the
Social Value Portal and the National TOMs Framework for calculation, the
group's social value rose from £5.3 million in 2022/23 to £6.4 million in
2023/24.
Key
achievements include achieving carbon neutral status, earning a Green Meetings
silver accreditation, establishing a Legacy Champions network, launching a
workplace Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy, and creating a city-wide
accessibility forum in collaboration with Liverpool ONE.
Looking
forward, the group has identified several priority initiatives, such as
developing an environmental sustainability strategy, maximising event legacy,
and enhancing campus accessibility.
The group
will continue to measure its activities against the UN Sustainable Development
Goals using the National TOMs Framework. The new plan outlines responsibilities
including becoming more environmentally sustainable, fostering a thoughtful and
inclusive workplace, influencing the events industry, and integrating deeply
with the local community.
Eddie dos
Santos, director of operations at ACC Liverpool Group, commented: "Since
introducing the first plan in 2022 we’ve made great progress in increasing our
value to the local area in the four key areas of people, environmental
sustainability, industry influence and community. Environmental sustainability
has become a key focus for us and while we’re proud of achieving carbon neutral
status and obtaining a Green Meetings silver accreditation, we know we have to
continue to adopt new ways of working and provide innovative solutions for the
challenges facing the Liverpool City Region."
