Blackpool’s
business events sector generated almost £1m in economic benefit for the town in June and July.
MeetBlackpool,
the town’s conference and exhibition arm, has hailed the most successful
months on record for business events after securing a diverse array of conferences
and events for June and July 2024, attracting thousands of delegates to the
seaside town.
Taking place at the Winter Gardens Blackpool and the Blackpool
Conference and Exhibition Centre the high-profile events from sectors including
education, public sector, sporting and science have generated more than £956k
of economic benefit to the local community.
Julie Vincent, head of MeetBlackpool, said: “The cumulative impact of these events has not only boosted the local
economy, but their diversity and calibre demonstrate Blackpool’s appeal as a
top choice for a wide range of professional gatherings. Business events are
more than just catalysts for economic impact; they serve as platforms for
knowledge exchange and innovation, nurturing growth and development that
ultimately benefit the lives of people in the area.
“I am incredibly proud of everyone involved in the successful
delivery of these events, including our accommodation, venue, and transport
partners. I cannot wait to see what the rest of 2024 has for our fantastic
town.”
Blackpool has seen investments this year with the opening of
two new venues - The Backlot Cinema and the town’s newest attraction, Showtown - and the opening of the 144-bed Holiday Inn Blackpool.
In May 2024, the town’s first celebrity restaurant, Marco’s New York Italian,
inspired by renowned chef Marco Pierre White also opened its doors.
