The events sector is among the top 10 industries with the
unhappiest workers according to new research.
Science and pharmaceuticals has the happiest workers, with a job happiness score of 91.93, according to a Reboot
Online survey of 2,500 professionals from 29 different industries.
Event management and hospitality trailed in sixth from last
in the survey, with a score of just 30.93. The only sectors that scored lower
were social care, retail, call centre and customer service, sales, and energy
and utilities, which came in last with just 9.5.
Workers in the creative arts and design industry reported the
second highest percentage of happiness, scoring 83.81, followed by the environment and agriculture sector with 80.96.
Drilling down further into the data for hospitality and
events management, the survey found:
- Just 32 per cent of workers think they have a positive effect
on others.
- Only 27 per cent feel they have good career prospects.
- 29 per cent feel empowered by their job.
- 44 per cent said they have good work relationships.
- Only 17 per cent believe their job benefits their mental
health.
- Just 19 per cent are happy with their pay.
- 32 per cent think their workplace has a positive culture.

always will be encouraged.
