Ahead of the next General Election, The Business of Events,
a UK events think tank, has announced plans to launch a Policy Unit to engage with Government and get events on the agenda.
The unit will bring together senior leaders from across the
business events sector to discuss policy ideas and initiatives and to connect
with government, policy makers and influencers, public sector organisations and
politicians.
The Business of Events will host consultation sessions to engage all parties. Policy initiatives will be explored through roundtable
discussions and evidence sessions with various sector stakeholder groups.
The aim is that these discussions will lead to the
publication of a series of reports, which will be submitted to a newly created
Advisory Council for review.
The Policy Unit will be divided into five streams:
- Creative and transactional agency
- Exhibition and trade shows
- Professional conference organisers and
associations
- Destinations
- Venues
In addition to the Policy Unit, an advisory council has also
been established to support The Business of Events in raising awareness of its
work, act as brand ambassadors for the industry and contribute to the
development of a long-term Policy Agenda for the UK events sector.
