A combination of natural flow through stadia venues, combined with a range of smaller spaces, gives event organisers more options in the wake of COVID-19, Twickenham Stadium has suggested.
Following the release of its post-COVID-19 regulations, Twickenham Stadium has suggested that stadia venues could provide a ready-made option for event organisers looking to provide social-distancing measures for their delegates.
The venue's new guidelines include audience traffic and flow management, ‘wave-based’ catering and staggered start, finish and break times to avoid crowds of delegates.
"Stadium venues really are the ideal choice for all events, particularly during these unprecedented times," said Debbie Rigney, marketing and PR manager, Stadium Experience.
"The expanse of space these venues boast make maintaining the social distancing measures more possible than many more traditional venues. Stadium staff are also experts at adapting their spaces from meeting matchday requirements to catering for the next bespoke event."
Jon Davies, managing director of event caterers, Levy UK, also believes that stadium-based events could offer event planners a simple solution to keeping their delegates safe.
“The nature of stadium-based hospitality, and its design, has always been around getting people fed quickly and safely, managing the flow of crowds in a relatively small amount of space.”
He added that this foundation and know-how of efficient catering can be easily combined with high standards of food hygiene, “something that should give event organisers and their delegates added confidence for their next events.”
Twickenham Stadium has also been working to bolster its technology offering to add another layer to its safer meetings options. To cater to the increase of hybrid meetings as well as those with a large ‘out-of-room’ audience, Twickenham has designed specialised ‘hybrid event packages’ and is offering planners multiple room access for single events to ensure delegates have the space to be safe.
