In place of the 2020 Airshow, Farnborough is launching FIA Connect, a digital event from 20-24 July.
The free digital meeting will take place over five days and include a virtual conference programme with speakers discussing a range of topics as well as business growth opportunities for buyers.
“The cancellation of the Farnborough International Airshow in response to the Covid-19 pandemic was a major shock, however, the team is determined to create something that brings as many aspects of the show to the global aerospace industry as possible,” Gareth Rogers, chief executive of Farnborough International said.
“Through our biennial airshow, we have been privileged to serve as a platform for connecting industry, facilitating business growth.”
The Farnborough Airshow is particularly hard hit by the Covid-19 pandemic as 70 per cent of exhibitors were from outside the UK.
The schedule of events includes:
The FINN Sessions – a webinar programme of insight and analysis with topics on MRO, defence, airlines, space, urban aviation and the future workforce.
Meet the Buyer is free of charge on Tuesday 21 July. This connects suppliers with buying decision-makers at pre-arranged, private and secure virtual meetings.
Farnborough Friday will address the skills gap and include careers advice, inspirational speaker videos, downloads and workshops.
ADS Partnership - FIA Connect is partnering with ADS Group, the UK trade association for Aerospace, Defence and Security, to provide support, guidance and topical sessions of analysis, with insights and resources to assist business keep up to date, informed and connected.
The Farnborough International Airshow is the second largest show of its kind after the Paris Air Show. The 2020 airshow was expected to bring in £152bn ($192bn in deals (an increase of US $67.5bn compared to the 2016 airshow), according to its website.
The technology is provided by EventsCase, an all-in-one event management software system. The UK event management software company announced in early May that a £50,000 relief fund has been made available to its employees worldwide, to meet the economic needs from the Covid-19 pandemic.
CEO and co-founder of EventsCase, Jose Bort, said: “Our company’s human resources is one of its most valuable assets. We wanted to make our support more official to our employees through this initiative.”
