Industry charity Meeting Needs raised a record-breaking £29,000 when its largest group of runners yet slogged their way around the Royal Parks Half Marathon.

The funds were raised by 40 meeting industry representatives who took part in the 13.1-mile race on Sunday 10 October.

The money raised this year also means a total of £100,000 has been raised for Meeting Needs by this running event since 2016.

Meeting Needs chair, Jason Wilcock, said: “We are so proud of our incredible runners who came together to take on this challenge for Meetings Needs. This was also the largest group of runners ever to fundraise for us, with experienced and first-time runners taking part. It is a testament to their dedication that we raised more funds than ever for great causes.”

The funds will be distributed between UK and international charities and help at least five projects.

Meetings Need executive board member, Kate Conway, said: “Since Meetings Needs first fielded a team of 10 in 2016, our runners from the meetings industry have raised an incredible £100,000. It is such an amazing milestone to have reached.”

Runners represented a collection of industry agencies and suppliers, including Associated Luxury Hotels International, Conference Care, Worldspan, DRPG, BCD Meetings & Events, Hotel Republic, DMC Advantage, Fresh, Blue Hat Teambuilding, BVA BDRC, Mabrouka Events, Cheerful Twentyfirst, Mayfair Townhouse, TAG Group, Rockitfish, Belmond, Clayton Hotels, SongDivision, Malmaison & Hotel du Vin, Johanna P Consultancy, Pilot Lite, HIS Markit and NTB Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions.
