Hotel group, NH Hotels is set to reopen around 200 properties in Europe and Latin America this month in conjunction with the 'Feel Safe at NH' concept.
The reopening of the hotels is being made possible by the group’s collaboration with SGS, an inspection, analysis and certification organisation.
NH Hotels has reviewed all its procedures and made nearly 700 adaptations to its operating standards, which will be implemented in its 361 hotels worldwide.
Grouped under 10 main lines of action and endorsed by specialists in different fields, the measures implemented include the digitalisation of hotel services, the adaptation of sanitation processes, the incorporation of social distancing standards, the use of personal protection elements and the control of air and water purification, among others.
In particular, the digitalisation of hotel services will allow guests to access online check-in and check-out services and communicate with staff digitally to avoid any physical interaction.
Hotel staff will also be screened daily for virus symptoms and each hotel will have a dedicated health and safety manager.
Out of the 361 properties NH Hotels operates, it will reopen 100 hotels in Southern Europe in destinations including Spain, Italy, Portugal and France. In Northern Europe, the group plans to open 83 hotels, with business already resuming in The Netherlands and Germany.
Within Europe, the first hotel to reopen at the beginning of June was the NH Nacional hotel in Madrid. Its facilities serve as a model for monitoring the new protocols implemented by the company to ensure maximum health and safety in all its hotels.
The group expects its properties in Latin America will be the last to reopen, as it was the last to be affected by mobility restrictions imposed by the health crisis.
The company currently has a limited number of properties open in some major cities such as Bogota and Buenos Aires, among others, and plans to begin reopening more hotels in July.
