The Midlands event venue Wyboston Lakes Resort has become accredited by the Living Wage Foundation after increasing its hourly wage to £9.90 for everyone who works there.
The Real Living Wage is calculated according to the costs of living. It provides a voluntary benchmark for employers that wish to ensure their staff earn a wage they can live on, not just the government minimum of £9.50 per hour.

It tells current and potential team members that we pay fairly and equitably for the job that people are asked to do and will help us to build a strong workforce.”
Katherine Chapman, director at the Living Wage Foundation said: “We’re delighted that Wyboston Lakes Resort has joined almost 9,000 responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on.
“They join thousands of small businesses, as well as household names such as Burberry, Barclays, Everton Football Club and many more. These businesses recognise that paying the real Living Wage is the mark of a responsible employer and they believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay."
Wyboston Lakes Resort is one of only 11 employers in its local area and also one of fewer than 450 employers in the hospitality industry nationwide, to have made this commitment. It is in the East of England where more than 15 per cent of jobs -- around 392,000 jobs – pay less than the real Living Wage.
