To strengthen its ‘people strategy’,
meetings and events organisation, Inntel, has signed up as a corporate client
of Neurodiversity in Business (NiB).
NiB is an industry forum formed to
support the participation of neurodivergent individuals in the workplace.
Speaking on joining NiB, Inntel’s
CEO Douglas O’Neill, said: “Inntel has a clear people strategy to provide
diversity and inclusivity in the workplace. NiB is a great organisation to be
part of and we are delighted to be supporting their efforts to highlight the
importance of neurodivergent individuals in the workplace.”
The term ‘neurodiversity’ describes
the differences in how people's brains are wired and how people experience and
interact with the world differently. Being neurodiverse can result in unique
strengths and skills, but can also pose challenges, especially in the workplace.
This is often because
neurodivergent people may have different social preferences, communication
skills, ways of learning and ways of perceiving the environment. Work environments
are commonly set up for neurotypical people. Some of the conditions that are
most common among those who describe themselves as neurodivergent include
autism, Asperger’s syndrome, ADHD, dyslexia and dyspraxia.
Organisations such as NiB work to
break down barriers and share best practices with companies to create a more
inclusive employment platform. NiB works collaboratively with its members
across the UK to improve conditions for neurodivergent people in employment.
Inntel employs more than 90 people remotely and at their head offices in Essex. Tiffany Casson, Inntel’s client relationship manager, has taken on the role of industry ambassador for NiB. Casson said: “Neurodiversity is a subject very close to my heart, I have a passion to make a difference in the industry and the workplace to champion neurodiversity.”
