A majority of planners from Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) are
more positive about the future than they were six months ago, but a similar
number want venues to offer greater flexibility on contract terms,
suggesting late registrations are still causing a headache for organisers when
it comes to guessing numbers.
Other key findings from the survey:
- Face-to-face interactions are more important than ever, with growth in value deemed ‘significant’ by
two-thirds of event planners.
- Planners more hopeful for future success, with highest levels of optimism in six
months. Negative sentiment has crept up, too, however.
- What are EMEA CVBs getting wrong? American planners are generally happier with convention and
visitor bureaux than their EMEA peers.
- Hotels appear to have got over their staffing issues, if satisfaction with service levels is any
indication. And they’re responding to RFPs faster, too.
- Costs and budget restraints are front of mind. Scientists may have warned that another
pandemic is ‘inevitable’, but fear of contagion is not keeping planners
awake.
This research cycle is comprised of 109 responses from planners of all
types and is compared to similar data we have collected from North America.
About the Survey:
The Northstar/Cvent Meetings Industry PULSE Survey was first launched in
the US in 2020 to track changes in planner sentiment and expectations
throughout the pandemic. There are now two more editions covering EMEA and
ASIA.
Northstar continues to survey event planners on a regular basis to
assess how current challenges and trends are shaping the industry. The PULSE
Survey is produced in partnership with meetings-technology provider Cvent.
