Coventry and Warwickshire’s convention bureau has relaunched to help draw more events to the region and streamline the planning process for event organisers.

It has been launched to transform how agents and event organisers engage with the region and be a one-stop shop for essential information about the destination. Coventry & Warwickshire Convention Bureau is a not-for-profit organisation and its newly launched digital platform will provide free services including a venue enquiry service and event planners’ guide.

Formerly known as Conference Coventry & Warwickshire, it has relaunched as part of a revitalised structure for Destination Coventry, the city’s destination management organisation (DMO). It is responsible for business tourism across the region including Coventry, Rugby, Nuneaton, Leamington Spa, Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon.

Coventry, which has ranked as the highest UK mid-sized city for business friendliness, is also leading the way in advanced and green technologies, with the city set to be positioned as a key destination for events in these sectors.

There are more than 2,600 hotel rooms in Coventry and Warwickshire and on any one day the region can host meetings for up to 35,000 delegates.

Its position in the centre of England has established the region as one of the most accessible destinations for UK and international events, with a vast range of venues including modern conference venues, unique historic buildings and rural escapes.

Paul McMahon, managing director at Coventry & Warwickshire Convention Bureau, said: “This is a strategic investment in the future of our visitor economy and will strengthen Coventry and Warwickshire’s reputation as a leading destination for business events both nationally and internationally.

“We’ve built the new platform to meet the changing needs of event organisers and address the challenges faced when choosing the right destination for an event.

“It’s vital that we make the experience of bringing events to the region as easy as possible, by doing so we are confident we can bring a further boost to our already thriving visitor economy and bring new business opportunities to our brilliant network of venues and partners.”
