Event
industry foundation Meeting Needs has agreed a £5,000 donation to support
relief work in Jamaica following the devastating damage to the island by Hurricane Melissa.
The
cash will be delivered via the Sandals Foundation, a non-profit organisation
launched in March 2009 to help Sandals Resorts International to make a
difference in the Caribbean. Sandals Foundation has launched a Relief Mission
fund to help families get back on their feet, working closely with
partners on the ground who have the expertise and manpower, conducting
assessments to ensure support continues through the long road to recovery and
rebuilding.
Funds
are being used to purchase emergency relief supplies such as food, water,
hygiene kits, and building materials, as well as to invest in medium and long
term recovery efforts that will restore lives and communities across the
island.
All
costs associated with administration and management are supported by Sandals
Resorts International so that 100 per cent of every dollar donated goes
directly towards funding impactful and meaningful initiatives within the key
areas of education, community and environment.
Meeting
Needs chair Lene Corgan said: “Sandals have been a consistent and energetic
supporter of Meeting Needs so we are very pleased to support their fantastic
efforts via their foundation in the knowledge that the cash will be delivered
to those most in need.”
