Martin Balmer, international sales manager at Northstar
Travel Group, is participating in the The Sandals Foundation Island Run - Antigua 2023 to raise
money for two charities.
The 100k run around the island of Antigua, taking place between 11 and 14 October 2023, aims to
raise £100,000 for The Sandals Foundation, a fundraising body for local
charities.
All funds raised will be donated to two charities: The
SickKids Caribbean Initiative, a charity concerned with childhood cancer, and
the Paediatric unit of the St Johns Medical Centre which cares for unwell and
premature babies.
Balmer said that while he has previously run half marathons,
he’s never taken on a challenge quite this big. However, he is determined to participate in the run to raise money for these important charities as he understand, first hand, the complexities of caring
for premature babies. “Being the father of a 25-week premature baby, I feel
passionately about raising money for the Sandals Antigua Charity Run to help other
families and their children receive the medical care and support that will
literally keep them alive. Please help me to raise £5,000 to make a
positive impact for those who are most vulnerable and in need."
The initiative hopes to raise £100,000, while Balmer has a
personal goal of raising £5,000 of that total.
