Brand
experience agency Owl Live is now an accredited climate-positive business,
after partnering with Earthly.
Owl Live has
partnered with Earthly to balance carbon, restore biodiversity and improve
livelihoods.
To fulfil
one of its sustainability goals, Owl Live will balance 114 tonnes CO2e per employee from the atmosphere.
The brand
experience agency has joined the pledge to become Net Zero by 2050,
however by partnering with Earthly, which offers nature-based solutions to
remove carbon, it has allowed Owl Live to make changes now, by investing in
science-based solutions to help reverse climate breakdown.
While their
current carbon impact baseline of 103.46 t CO2e is already per employee lower
than the average for businesses of Owl Live’s size and industry, they know more
can be done to reduce this further, and their innovative ‘work from anywhere’
policy has further contributed to a lower operational carbon impact.
Owl Live
will continue to reduce its emissions as much as possible before balancing the
remainder by 110 per cent - thus becoming a climate-positive business.
Together
with Earthly, this new partnership will make a difference to one very special
project. The Rimba Raya biodiversity reserve is protecting one of the most
endangered ecosystems in the world - peatland. By investing in this project,
Owl Live is protecting 65 endangered animals and plant species. Not only is this reserve
helping the planet, but it is supporting the local community, and improving
jobs and water supply.
Earthly,
said: “Nature-based solutions can contribute a third of the mitigation
needed by 2030 to stabilise warming to below two degrees Celsius, but a lack of
investment means their potential is not yet being fully tapped.”
Managing partner
at Owl Live, Lauren Mucklow has been championing sustainability efforts at the
agency: “Change must happen now, and we
are taking action. We’ve wholeheartedly focussed on accelerating our
sustainability efforts over the past 12 months, and with Earthly, we have a
greater opportunity to make a real difference, quickly and effectively.
We understand our industry has a high environmental impact, so we are committed
to changing the future of brand experiences, starting with our own operations,
and ultimately, influencing change in others - both clients and competitors.”
