Trade association beam's ESG Summit saw more than 110 event agency and
supplier professionals gather to educate and inspire each other to unveil
pathways to a better future.
The beam ESG action group organised for event professionals
to discuss all elements of environmental issues, social issues and corporate
governance at a lively and informative day on Wednesday 8 May at Unity
Place, Milton Keynes. The event featured a low-carbon-footprint menu that
emphasised Unity Place's dedication to providing eco-friendly options for
events and content included expert guest speakers and interactive sessions on
topics such as Creating Change and Achieving Buy-In, Accreditation and B-Corp, Measuring
and Influencing Delegate Travel and Waste Management Best Practices.
Alistair Turner from EI8HT PR was the master of ceremonies drawing
insights and comment from 16 speakers during the day.
Turner said: “This event wasn't just about sustainability,
this was an excellent example of how the industry is expanding its
understanding, and responsibility towards, the full suite of ESG issues that it
can influence. It was nice to see the audience engage across the topics and
bring their own experience to the discussion. This was a real sign that the
industry continues to deal with its responsibilities to People, Planet and
Profit in a responsible and articulate way."
Beam board director responsible for ESG, Wyboston Lakes marketing director Louisa Watson, said: “When we launched the ESG Summit we
said that it is through collaboration and support that we’ll change our
practices for the better. This event demonstrates that we can continue to learn
to do things better and learn from each other. We all win from our industry adopting
ESG practices at a higher standard.”
Attendee Debbie Bell, director at event agency ZiaBia, added: “As an agency that is growing, we are very aware of not only our
footprint but that of our clients and in recent months we have been focusing on
our journey to become a B Corp. This event was invaluable as it was in an
environment where we all learnt new things and happily shared ideas with each
other. We can take away best practices and implement them and it was a really
great event to participate in, at a great and relevant venue."
