The first MICE trade show where buyers and suppliers talk business
while biking, is gearing up to host its inaugural forum.
MeetSleepCycle Slovenia 2026 will bring together 60 MICE
professionals – 30 buyers and 30 suppliers – in Slovenia from 20-23 September.
In a change from the usual trade show format, delegates will
travel by bicycle to three locations in Slovenia – Kranjska Gora, Bohin and
Bled – while taking part in 26 pre-scheduled meetings.
Buyers will meet with suppliers and hear from experts in
carbon budgeting, responsible programme design and delegate wellbeing as they
cycle through picturesque countryside.
Attendees can select their route lengths and have access to sporting
and e-bike options. Road-crew support is offered throughout and there is accommodation
provided at hotels at the three event stops.
Louise Laker, founder of Eat Sleep Cycle and MICE industry
expert and former agency leader Chris McQue, came up with the idea for
MeetSleepCycle on a cycling tour.
Frustrated that sustainability in events was not pushing the
bar far enough, they decided to create a ‘sustainability in motion’ format that
would ‘unite responsible delivery, human connection and destination experience
in one purposeful forum’.
MeetSleepCycle co-founder McQue, said: “We realised we were
onto something unique. In an increasingly digital industry, how often do we get
to put our phones away and have real conversations?
“As cyclists, we instinctively understood that people
connect differently when they move together. MeetSleepCycle was built on that
insight because in the end, people rarely remember what you tell them, but they
always remember how you made them feel.”
