Shaun
Davies, Labour MP for Telford has been formally elected as chair
of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Events (APPG) as applications for the group's new corporate membership option open.
Under new provisions, private sector businesses can now join the APPG for Events as non-voting members.
As per parliamentary rules, three further officers
were also nominated and elected at the meeting on Tuesday 17 December: Jack Rankin, MP for Windsor (Conservative), David Baines, MP for St Helens
North (Labour), and Gill German, MP for Clwyd North (Labour).
Also at the meeting, business events and travel PR firm Davies Tanner, through its The Business of Events think tank, was asked to continue to be the official secretariat and special advisor to the APPG.
UK-based organisations are invited to become members for £1,500+VAT by nominating a senior representative, offering them the opportunity to engage directly with MPs and influence policy decisions. Sponsorship of the group is now also available at £5,000+VAT. A full prospectus can be downloaded on the APPG for Events website here.
A Davies Tanner spokesperson said: "We have now submitted
the necessary paperwork to the Office of the Parliamentary Commissioner for
Standards, to formally register the APPG in Parliament, and we should receive
final confirmation of this within the next 5-7 working days."
