Northstar UK’s flagship Sustainable Events Course,
alongside the Advanced Sustainable Events Course, are now delivered
entirely on-demand to give busy professionals maximum flexibility.
Curated by isla, the courses are designed to equip meetings
and events professionals with the knowledge, tools and confidence to embed
sustainability into real-world event delivery - from foundational principles to
strategic, industry-level practice.
The move to a fully on-demand format marks a significant
evolution. All six modules for each course are now available immediately,
allowing learners to study at their own pace, revisit material as needed and
fit professional development around demanding schedules, global time zones and
peak event periods.
More than 400 professionals have completed the courses over
the past five years, building a strong framework for sustainable event planning
across organisations worldwide.
Two pathways to meaningful impact
The Sustainable Events Course is aimed at
those beginning their sustainability journey. It covers core topics such as
goal setting, supplier engagement, travel and food impacts, circular economy
principles, and measuring outcomes. Practical exercises and tools ensure
participants can apply learning directly to their own events from day one.
The Advanced Sustainable Events Course is
designed for professionals with existing knowledge - including alumni of the
introductory programme - who want to deepen their expertise and influence. It
explores more complex themes such as legislation, industry standards,
communications, measurement frameworks and system change, helping participants
navigate rising expectations from clients, stakeholders and regulators.
Both courses are presented by isla founder Anna Abdelnoor,
with industry insights on the introductory course from Andy King, co-founder of
Inward Point.
Gayle Thwaites of Prestige Event Hire said: “Thanks for being
so passionate about the events industry and developing this amazing
sustainability course. The course content was excellent, loved Andy's weekly
event story sessions, plus the flexibility of attending classes online suited
my work schedule.”
Lene Corgan, head of business development - business events
at Copenhagen Convention Bureau, said: “Anyone who is serious about making
their events more sustainable should take this course. Excellent content and
hands-on advice and tools.”
All students receive complimentary six-month access to TRACE
by isla, enabling them to measure the impact of one event of their choice using
a recognised carbon measurement tool.
Both courses are CPD-accredited, and participants receive a
certificate upon completion.
Greater accessibility
The on-demand format also improves accessibility for a
broader range of professionals, particularly freelancers and smaller
organisations that may struggle to commit to fixed schedules.
Discounted rates are available for freelancers, charities
and non-profit organisations, as well as for group bookings - supporting teams
seeking to build shared sustainability capability across their business.
By removing time constraints and lowering barriers to entry,
the course aims to accelerate sector-wide progress at a critical moment for
climate action and responsible event delivery.
Enrolment for the 2026 courses is now open.
