Event tech expert Corbin Ball is retiring - and closing his long-running website corbinball.com.
The site, which launched in 1997, claims to be the internet's longest-running site about meeting planning, trade show and events technology. Ball also wrote a long-running event tech column called Tech Spec for AMI magazine, ending in 2020.
In a statement, Ball said: "I have decided that it is time to retire and close this website on January 31, 2024. I turn 75 in a couple of months and am planning on travelling, volunteering, auditing classes, exploring new topics and spending more time with friends and family.
"I started my speaking, consulting and writing business focusing on event technology one year before Google. Since then, I have had the good fortune to speak before tens of thousands of event professionals in 35 countries. I have consulted with hundreds of organizations and have written hundreds of articles for dozens of publications. Additionally, I built this site which, for many years, was the largest and most comprehensive event tech site on the web. It has been a very fun ride of which I have enjoyed nearly every minute during this past 27 years.
"You will still see me at IMEX America, an occasional MPI meeting and on LinkedIn and Facebook, but a fair amount of my event industry activity will cease. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to all my supporters, friends and colleagues in this industry – you are making the world a better place!"
