The Meetings Industry Association (mia) has extended the submission deadline for the miaList 2021 awards.
Event professionals from across the business meetings and events sector will have until 19 July to nominate either an inspirational individual or a team who go “above and beyond the call of duty and have played an instrumental role in making their organisations a success.”
Jane Longhurst, chief executive of the mia, said: “We have already received a high number of inspirational entries this year, but are acutely aware that those working within the sector are currently exceptionally busy at this critical time preparing to re-open. We, therefore, wanted to allow additional time to ensure as many as possible are able to place their nominations.
“There has never been a more crucial time to nurture, celebrate and share the successes of the incredible talent we have working within business meetings and events, so we really urge the sector to dedicate the time to shine a spotlight on those deserving individuals and teams. It really will mean so much to those who achieve this recognition.”
The awards are open to anyone who is working within or is associated with the business meetings and events industry. Entry is free and individuals must be nominated by either a colleague or an associate.
Judith Sloane, head of Meet Cambridge, was one of the winners of last year’s miaList.
She said: “Being placed on the miaList 2020 meant so much to me, not only was it recognition that I’m doing a good job, but it was also heart-warming to discover that the nomination came from my amazing team and that it was supported by the incredible Cambridge folk and clients who took the time to submit wonderful testimonials. To make it onto a list containing the names of this industry’s greats is a monumental honour and after such a difficult year, it was incredibly humbling to have been recognised for the very small part that I play in this very special industry; I shall treasure the accolade and the memory for the rest of my career.”
All nominations for the awards will be assessed by a panel of judges, who will meet with each individual and team before determining the miaList 2021. For the team awards, there will be an additional judging stage where those shortlisted by the judging panel will be subject to a weighted public vote.
Full details and application forms can be found here. Completed forms and portfolios of evidence must be submitted by 5pm on Monday, 19 July.
Winners will be revealed at an industry celebration on Thursday, 4 November 2021 at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel London.
