Leeds Beckett University’s UK Centre for Events Management (UKCEM) has launched a new PhD impact bursary for event professionals.

As part of UKCEM’s 25-year celebration and Leeds Beckett’s commitment to the industry’s future recovery, UKCEM is offering a PhD impact bursary with a focus on innovation and new business models.

Meeting Professionals International (MPI) has also joined the effort, offering industry practitioner input, access to global resources and a full MPI student membership for the successful PhD applicant

Head of UKCEM Dr James Musgraves adds: “I am thrilled to be able to announce this news. We are investing in the long-term recovery of the industry and continue to work closely with key partners such as Meeting Professionals International (MPI), in supporting this initiative”. He adds “the fully-funded PhD is an indicator of where we focus on collaboration, knowledge exchange and research impact”.

Susan Arslan, MPI UK & Ireland chapter president said the collaboration will leave a lasting impact on the sector of the global meetings. “MPI is delighted to have been chosen for this opportunity to work in collaboration with Leeds Beckett University, and we are looking forward to the successful applicant being announced in 2022 – MPI’s 50th anniversary.

Arslan added: “We applaud every effort that contributes to the ongoing recovery of the events industry and build towards a successful future.”
