Taking place on Friday 9 September at Battersea Evolution,
the M&IT Awards is set to be a glittering night that will see the sector unite
to celebrate excellence within the events industry.
This year the awards will be hosted by the multi-talented
West End star, This Morning presenter and winner of the 14th series of Strictly
Come Dancing, Ore Oduba.
If a triple-threat celeb isn’t enough to get you excited for
the biggest industry event of the year, then maybe the palpable anticipation
and enthusiasm from some of the M&IT Awards finalists will rile you up; after all, winning an M&IT Award is a real game-changer for many eventprofs.
“It would mean the absolute world to the Visit Belfast
team to win,” said Visit Belfast’s director of business development, sustainability
and transformation, Rachael McGuickin. Visit Belfast has been nominated for the
Best UK Convention Bureau award. “Given the hugely competitive landscape we
operate in, being nominated in the first place was an achievement in itself.”
Graeme Saunders, groups and MICE manager for Sandals resorts, said finding out that Sandals Royal Barbados had been shortlisted for Best Overseas
Hotel, was a “great feeling and a relief”.
“If
- and it’s a big if - we were lucky enough to win in a category which has so
many fantastic properties shortlisted, it would be an amazing
achievement. We have been lucky enough to win before and that feeling
never changes when your name is read out and you go up to collect the award.
Again, it’s validation that we are doing something right in the market.”
Britt
Gorniok, marketing manager MICE at Innovation Norway, which is up for an award
in the Best Overseas Convention Bureau category, added: “Being nominated for
the M&IT Award is uplifting and motivating. It shows that the work
VisitNorway is doing together with our partners, has effect. Norway has for
many years been a little-known destination, but this is obviously changing!”
