Venues and Events International has announced the hire of its first apprentice, Shane Jarvis.

Jarvis joins Venues and Events International as an events assistant and will work under the day-to-day leadership of COO, Kim Cavilla, supporting the wider events team.

Cavilla said: “We believe this will be a fantastic opportunity for Shane, giving him a true insight into our amazing industry. His role will allow him to support the events team in carrying out a diverse range of tasks necessary to plan, organise and deliver an event, such as writing up proposals, contacting clients and venues and supporting with client visit agendas, site inspection agendas and project meeting agendas. No day will be the same, and I look forward to supporting him on his journey into events.”

Commenting on his new role, Jarvis said: “I’m excited to have joined Venue and Events International and to be a part of a successful company that thrives in only providing the best service in something they strongly believe in. I will have the opportunity to work with some key players in the business and learn from the experts. This will develop my skills and gain key qualifications to help me thrive within the company and become a valued team member in the business. I'm looking forward to what I hope will be a successful career within Venues and Events International.”

Venues and Events International CEO, Anita Lowe added: “We are pleased to help support young apprentices and to be investing in the future workforce as well as an apprentice bringing fresh perspectives and new skill sets into the workforce.

“I’m so excited about what this programme can offer as apprenticeships are adding real value to businesses and invaluable opportunities for those willing to learn. A well designed and supported apprenticeship programme is a clear and effective way to introduce and develop new talent into any business. I can’t wait to see what Shane can bring to the team as we help nurture his development.”

The announcement comes a few weeks after England’s National Apprenticeship Week, an annual week-long celebration of apprenticeships.
