Stress Matters, the event industry workplace wellbeing organisation, has launched the #MHFAEveryEvent campaign to promote workplace wellbeing and offer free training and support to out of work event professionals.

Laura Capell-Abra of Stress Matters

A study contacted by Stress Matters in May 2020 found that 11 per cent of respondents reported that their employer hadn't tried to limit team stress during the pandemic and 44 per cent had tried with some basic initiatives but not hard enough according to the respondents.

Stress Matters founder, Laura Capell‐Abra said she wants to see “the holistic safety of crew and guests considered as the industry re‐opens,” following restrictions on the meetings and events industry, imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The #MHFAEveryEvent campaign aims to encourage event venues and organisers to consider physical and mental safety with equal importance by ensuring that whenever an event takes place, there will be an appropriate number of mental health first aiders available to support if needed.

Stress Matters also reported an increase in recent weeks of people contacting the Support Line that the organisation set up, run by event industry volunteers trained in Mental Health First Aid. Stress Matters is therefore also focusing the campaign on helping event professionals who are currently out of work.

“For every space booked on one of our Mental Health First Aid courses, Stress Matters will then match this by gifting a space on a Mental Health Aware course for individuals that have been made redundant,” added Capell-Abra.

“The more companies that become #MHFAEveryEvent, the more out-of-work industry colleagues we can also support.”

To get involved in the campaign, apply for mental health first aid training or to apply for a gifted place on the training course, visit the Stress Matters website.
