First came The 02, formerly known as the Millennium Dome, which began attracting tourists and London residents alike to the once wasteland of Greenwich Peninsula in London.
Over time, shops, restaurants and more entertainment outlets sprung up in the area to satisfy the needs of revellers visiting The O2.
Then late last year, the Greenwich Peninsula welcomed its newest permanent venue, Magazine London. The purpose-built, 19,994 sqm building sits along the River Thames and is defined by its simple, yet striking architectural form.
The Stylist Live LUXE event, curated by Stylist Magazine, was one of the first clients Magazine London welcomed through its new doors.
As a brand new venue, Magazine London presented an inspiring environment with a modern, warehouse-style design, ideal for the new-look Stylist Live LUXE event. The venue’s slick, all-black interiors and panoramic views of Canary Wharf cityscape matched Stylist’s ‘LUXE’ vision for the event.
“We are so proud to have been one of the first events in Magazine London,” Sophie Robinson, chief marketing officer at The Stylist Group told M&IT.
“After a few years of working with long-established and more corporate venues, it was time for Stylist Live to make a change – Magazine London was the change we needed. Developing our flagship event into Stylist Live LUXE felt completely natural in a venue that is so cool and on-brand for Stylist. Working with the Magazine team made this process as easy and slick as it could be. We are very excited to be coming back for our second year in 2020."
Across two days, the Stylist Live LUXE EVENT welcome around 1,800 guests to experience some of the beauty industry’s biggest brands, including O.P.I, Pixi and The Body Shop.
The change of venue from Olympia London in previous to Magazine London ensured the event was more intimate, providing a VIP experience to all attendees.
As an exclusive hire venue, Stylist took advantage of multiple branding opportunities, covering the venue’s exterior windows in pink vinyl to achieve an eye-popping entrance. The venue’s smaller mezzanine levels allowed for more intimate panel discussions, as well as a VIP gin bar by Bloom.
In choosing Magazine London as their new venue, the Stylist Group hoped to create a more boutique, festival experience; in which every guest was treated like a VIP for an ultimate weekend of inspiration.
