A 38 year-old man has been charged with arson after a fire broke out at the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC).
Smoke was seen rising from the roof of the building on Monday (4 August) evening. Emergency services were called at approximately 19:30 BST, and brought the blaze at an outdoor terraced area under control by around 21:30. The venue was closed to the public at the time, and no injuries were reported.
Dorset Police have confirmed that Shane Wilson, 38, of no fixed address, has been charged with arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered. He was remanded in custody and appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (6 August).
The BIC is a major events facility regularly used for large-scale conferences, exhibitions, and concerts.
