Former SITE CEO Didier Scaillet has died aged 54 following a spell in hospital, according to an announcement from SITE.
The business events industry stalwart served as CEO of SITE and SITE Foundation from January 2018 to September 2020, when he stepped down for health reasons.
The SITE announcement said: "All at SITE are shocked and saddened by the passing yesterday (July 9) of the association’s former CEO, Didier Scaillet, following a spell in hospital.
"Our hearts go out to his wife Sabine and his children, Martin, Morgane and Giles.
Scaillet's long association management career also included roles with MPI, AMC Institute, and Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA).
Martin Lewis, founder of M&IT, said: "Didier
was one of the great thinkers of our industry. I didn't meet up with him often
enough but when I did, I always left with an idea he had inspired or a thought
he had initiated. Every conversation was fruitful and I always learned
something from him. And, by the way, he was always charming company. Bon
voyage, Didier..."
A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, July 16 at 10am at Daelhof à Zemst (Erasmuslaan 50 à 1804 Eppegem-Zemst), near Brussels, Belgium.
