The Association of British Professional Conference Organisers (ABPCO) has received a record number of entries for its annual Excellence Awards, reflecting the strength, creativity and growing ambition of the UK’s association and not-for-profit events sector.
The record response means this year’s awards will showcase more examples than ever of the outstanding work being delivered by conference organisers, event teams, suppliers and partners across the sector.
The ABPCO Excellence Awards recognise and celebrate best practice in association and not-for-profit conferences and events. They are open to both ABPCO members and non-members, providing an opportunity for professionals and organisations from across the wider sector to share their achievements and demonstrate the impact of their work
This year’s categories recognise excellence across areas including event delivery, member engagement, sustainability, equity, diversity and inclusion, technology, partnerships, legacy and impact, as well as celebrating the contribution and development of individuals working across the industry. A Best New Conference category has also been introduced for 2026
ABPCO executive director Matt Stalker said: “It’s fantastic that so many individuals, organisations and groups recognise the importance of the ABPCO Awards. Our judging panel will begin scoring entries this week and we’re all looking forward to celebrating the outstanding work at our Excellence Awards event in Belfast in December.”
The record level of participation also reflects the important role that recognition and shared learning play within the association events community. By showcasing successful approaches, innovative ideas and measurable impact, the Awards provide an opportunity for the sector to learn from one another and raise standards across the industry.
Finalists for the 2026 ABPCO Excellence Awards will be announced in early September, ahead of the Awards ceremony at ICC Belfast on 11 December.
The 2026 Awards are supported by a range of sponsors and partners from across the business events industry, whose involvement helps ABPCO celebrate the achievements of the association events community. This year’s headline sponsor is SEC Scottish Event Campus.
